Natalie Goldberg, author of Writing Down the Bones, said she learned to write by teaching. When I first read that, I realized how true that is for all of us who teach writing, no matter what the age of our students. Through the process of journaling and a daily writers’ workshop, we teach our students to write, and they, in turn, teach us to write. Each day is a day of discovery as we become a community of learners and friends through our stories.
I am a children’s author and an educational writing consultant from Fremont, Nebraska, and the coordinator for the Nebraska Novel Retreats for Middle Grade and Young Adult Authors. I love to share my ideas and enthusiasm about writing and the writing process with students and teachers. If you would like more information about my workshops or presentations, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to hearing from you!
