Act 1: Writing for Today’s Market
June 22 - June 24, 2011

Our first retreat, scheduled for Wednesday, June 22-Friday, June 24, 2011, will focus on the current YA and Middle-Grade  market as we attempt to determine what editors are looking for today and where our writing style fits into this market. We will also share craft techniques on plotting, character development, and the pacing of novels.  We will leave this retreat with a basic outline and a plan for turning that outline into a novel.  

Requirements to attend Retreat 1: Complete a reading list of current YA and Middle-Grade titles that have been suggested as “Must Reads” by our agents for anyone interested in writing and selling to the YA and Middle-Grade market today.
