"Sell"abrating a Satisfying Ending with a Fresh Beginning
Our final retreat is scheduled for Friday, October 24-Sunday, October 26, 2008, and will be led by Alexandra Penfold, an editor at Simon and Schuster and Rebecca Sherman, a senior agent at Writers House Literary Agency .  The focus for this retreat will be marketing strategies and submission secrets.  We will also discuss the process of letting go of this novel and starting again with a new project. 

Requirements to attend Retreat 3: 
1.  Attend at least one of the other two retreats.
2.  Read the book Art and Fear by David Bayles.
3.  Submit a cover letter, a synopsis of your novel, and the first three 
     chapters for critique by either Alexandra or Rebecca.
 
Schedule for Retreat
A schedule for this retreat has not been determined.  Activities that are planned for this retreat are:

1.  a one-on-one interview for each participant regarding his or her submission package, with either Alexandra Penfold or Rebecca Sherman.

2.  session dealing with marketing strategies, including correctly targeting your market and the development of an effective submissions packet.

3.  a dialogue between Alexandra and Rebecca regarding the negotiation process.

4.  a discussion of the book Art and Fear by David Bayles.

5.  a revisitation to some of the brainstorming activities introduced in Retreat 1, to get participants on the road to writing their next novel.
